Have'nt posted anything in quite a while. Been busy with Real life. Thought i would throw this one out. Took me about 2 hours to get this shot the way i wanted it.
Hope you like.....
This shot is based on the Sunrise shot seen of the Enterprise from "Star Trek, The Motion Picture". Using my own ship, The USS Hershel, and bit of post processing, such as the sunrise, lens flare, a bit of motion blur, and film grain, in Gimp, I re created a close match to the TMP shot. This image was taken from the "Star Trek Legacy PC game.

Nice shot John - for those who don't know, where did the name Hershel come from?

The USS Hershel name, is a brainchild of mine, ive had for years. Its basically named after my Great Grandfather. his name was Hershel. he was a WWI veteran. The ship name and registry is a combination of his name, and the year i was born. He died in 1991, after complications from a stroke. He spent the last 6 or so years of his life in a wheelchair, and mostly bed ridden. I wanted something to remember him by, so i conjoured up the idea of naming a starship after him. I was taking two of my loves in life, and combining them. My Great Grandfather, And Star Trek.

It's a very nice shot and I think Miri's work on the glows and texture of the deflector dish really enhances it in a way I didn't think it could, cos I wasn't too crazy about the deflector being bronze, as you only ever saw it once in the first film, but it doesn't actually look too bad because the bronze is so well covered by the blue we're used to when under power, such as it was in the film.

It was difficult to try to get the shot as close to the TMP shot as possible. With the Legacy engine. I figure i didnt do too bad at it.
I consider it a tribute to the awesome visuals of The Motion Picture. Plus, the sunrise shot, is one of my fav shots from the film.
That one and the first time u see the Enterprise hanging stationary outside the V'ger cloud.

Can we do a U.S.S. Edwin Whitaker in honor of my Grandfather whome I never new. Only from what my mother has told me. He died in world war II.
