I was talking to someone in my college computing society about STO this evening, he makes it sound really cool and I'm tempted to give it a try but I simply can't justify the money and time I would have to pour into it.

I won't be playing STO.........one, because I don't have a computer that can run it and two, because I too cannot justify the amounts of money these people want for simply playing a game.

Stu - it IS really cool. I've played the beta and had fun. The problem for me lies in the endless possibilities that exist in an MMO like this one, especially Star Trek. You just want to keep exploring, taking on missions, etc.. It is a compliment to the game creators at Cryptic. I cannot get involved in something so addicting right now, and the money part does not matter to me, it is the endless hours of my life used up in the game.

well, ive been playing it in my free time, trying not to get hooked too much. i just got my first cruiser and searched the galaxy for a quantum torp launcher at a decent price. i finally found one sometime yesterday evening. i fitted it to my ship, but then spent the rest of the evening watching a movie with the wife. ill find out later today if it was worth the search.

i played some in the beta, but i had no clue what i was doing and didn't have the time to figure it out. i have done much better with the head start. today it will be time for a bunch of noobs to drop in, as it is official release day. maybe they wont kick my butt too bad.

i want to play, but realistically i cant. im already paying 15 a month to play WoW and right now i cant play STO. granted i'll be getting a new rig next week, but even so, i still dont have the time to pay to play a second MMO

Well ATM I got back into WoW. but still my brother hasn't been able to pick up the game because of money and he was recently in a car accident. But still once I get it ill post my name and stuff here. lol

Well, I bit the bullet and bought the game.  Named the ship U.S.S. Rivia after a city in one of my favorite rpgs (Witcher).  Game's good so far, graphics leave a bit to be desired.  Mainly with the shield halo's and warp/impulse trails.  But there seems to be endless possibilites if the creators keep this game going.
