Today, I will be explaining why I hate Games for Windows.

Let's start with my scenario:
I had recently bought: Batman : Arkham Asylum for PC on steam.
I finish downloading it, and I go to play it.
At first, it seems to be loading fine, I put in the product key, but then, then here comes the fun part:
I have to sign up for "games for windows".
I say "Fine, how bad can it be?".
So I go to sign up, fill out my registration form, etc. etc. When I go to login it says "You must get a parent's account to agree to this". I was all "WTF, I'm 17 and I have to get my PARENT'S PERMISSION FOR A T RATED GAME?!?!?!?!" That was fail 1.
Fail 2 comes at me making my parent's account.
I have to fill out their information, login to their email, click it, then when I go to OK me... it doesn't work....
I spend the next 5 minutes, frustrated, and finally, and I don't know how, it worked.

So then I went back into Batman, but... my Internet wasn't working... and, get this, it says "You cannot save w\o an internet connection".

WTF?!?!?!? So, Microsoft is assuming that EVERY SINGLE BUYER HAS ACCESS TO THE INTERNET?

That's fail 3.

That's it for MY fails, but I've read several reports of gamers using Games for Windows to buy extra content, which doesn't work out well, those who had my kind of problem, and then those who have a problem getting the damn thing to work!

My opinion: Get rid of Games of Windows, and go through Steam, Microsoft.
Steam isn't nearly as annoying, and it ACTUALLY WORKS!

 dunno, i have been able to work it just fine. but yes i agree. Games for Windows live sucks a baboons scrotum. when i got GTA4 i didnt have internet access all the time. so i was constantly starting from the beginning each and every time i play. this feature needs to disappear. permanently.

It's not Steam's fault it's frickin Eidos Interactive, those sons of B's. But if you think that's bad, I've been having serious problems playing Silent Hunter V. The DRM requires a consistent internet connection and whenever Ubisoft servers goes down the game boots me out (which happens every other time I play it). So I'm forced to use "other" means of which to play a game I paid for.

I never claimed Steam as the problem, I blame GFW.

Odd... I haven't encountered Games for Windows yet.... Then again, I've moved most of my gaming to consoles for the PS3's superior graphics and the Wii's low-quality, but cartoony graphics...

Ugh bought Batman Arkham Asylum and it's been one problem after the next lol. DRM is killing the PC game industry lol.
